TOPSoccer - a program for players with special needs

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US Youth Soccer family.

TOPSoccer allows participants to kick a soccer ball around without the pressure of a team or game situation.  Each TOPSoccer participant has a Buddy that is there to guide and play with them.  Buddies know about each participant they are going to help before they even meet the participant the day of the event.  Participants’ parents receive a call from the program Director to clarify information and the needs of each participant.  Each TOPSoccer session is designed around the participants’ needs.  And most importantly, participants have a GREAT time!

  • Any child age 4 to 15 who is unable to participate in a typical soccer team or game situation due to a physical or mental condition.
  • Caring individuals (generally 13 and older) that would like to help participants enjoy kicking a ball around.
